General Information

Q. What kind of printer is the VJ1608?

The New VJ1608 is based on the ValueJet 16xx series platform. Using the same latest generation Epson single head/8 channel piezoelectic technology used in the VJ1204, VJ1304 and the VJ16xx series and incorporating the same patented Intelligent Interweave Technology that have made the ValueJets a market success. While it is targeted as a flat-bed printer, it's hybrid nature supports roll to roll printing as well. The VJ1608 has 8 ink slots, each with 880ml ink capacity, it currently ships with a 4 color x 2 configuration.

Q. What is Mubio Ink?

A. Mubio Ink is a corn-based product that cures by air drying requiring no special air filtration.

Q. Are there expensive UV lamps to maintain and replace.

A. The Mubio Inkset is not UV, but crosslinks by air drying. A pair of hot air knives facilitate dot gain control and cross linkinig. The ink is typically 'dry' just seconds after the ink is deposited.

Q. What is the ink cost per sq.ft.?

A. Studies show an average from $0.17 to $0.41 per sq.ft.

Q. What is the outdoor rating of the Mubio Ink set?

A. The inks are rated 2 years outdoor.

Q. What is the media thickness and media weight that the VJ1608 supports?

A. The VJ1608 will accept media up to 10mm thickness and up to 12 pounds total weight of substrate for rigid media 67 pound rolls for roll media..

Q. What media will the printer print on?

A. There are a wide range of rigid and roll media compable with the Mubio Ink Set and the ValueJet 1608, including corogated plastic, expanded pvc's, clay coated substrates, polycarbonate, polystyrene, various roll vinyl, papers, and banners, a partial list is available HERE.

Q. What print resolutions is the machine capable of?

A. The VJ1608 can print from 1440 x 1440 dpi down to 540 x 720 dpi.

Q. What speeds are this machine capable of?

A. Production speed (720x720 4 pass) prints at 120 sq.ft./hour, Quality speed (540x720 6 pass) is 100 sq.ft./hr and Photo speed (720x720) is 60 sq.ft./hr.

Q. How much of a border does the printer leave?

A. There is a 5/8" border on the leading edge, 1/5" border on each side and approx 3" on the rear (this can easily be overcome with a 'trailer'.
